Geography
Amorgos is one of the northern islands of the Cyclades.
It is east of Naxos and north of Thira. It is 33 km in length
and 1.5 km to 6km in width and an area of 121-km2 including
the 7 uninhabited islands surrounding it. Its perimeter
is about 48 nautical miles. The port of Katapola is 136
miles from Piraeus although the port of Aigiali is 137 miles.
From the capital of the Cyclades islands Ermoupoli in Syros,
the distance of Katapola and Aigiali is the equivalent to
60 and 61 miles.

How
to get there
Amorgos has a ferry service from Piraeus and
Rafina and during the winter period it has an everyday service.
From Piraeus it is about 9-10 hours and from Rafina 8-9
hours. Anyone wishing to travel to Amorgos should check
the Flying Dolphins timetable, as they tend to change dates
and times of departure. Amorgos has a daily service from
Naxos with the ferry SKOPELITIS. There are continuous connection
services from Paros, Mykonos, Santorini and Astipalaia.
It is recommended that anyone flying by charter checks the
timetable from the nearby airports of Mykonos, Santorini,
Naxos and Astipalaia.
When you arrive
When you arrive in Amorgos things are pretty
simple because there are steady bus services from all the
towns and beaches. For those who do not wish to commit to
the bus timetables they can call a taxi and be picked up
from anywhere on the island at any time. There are also
car and motorcycle rentals in Egiali, Hora and Katapola.
